We’ve been buying and trading video games in Austin for decades, from current-generation titles and systems to retro games and harder-to-find collectibles.
How Trading Works
Bring your items to either Gamefellas location and our staff will inspect them for condition, completeness, demand, and current market value.
There is no appointment necessary, although larger trades may take considerable time to work up and require a drop-off. Once we evaluate your items, we’ll let you know what we can offer. Store credit is available for all items we accept; however, we offer a cash option on many items.
All trades are subject to final inspection in store.
What We Buy
We regularly consider:
- Video games from current and retro systems
- Video game consoles and handheld systems
- Controllers and video game accessories (primarily OEM only)
- Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and other trading cards
- Select collectibles and other gaming merchandise
Our inventory needs change, so acceptance can vary even for items we normally purchase.
Cash or Store Credit
Store credit is available for all acceptable trades and provides the best trade value.
Cash is available for many items, particularly newer and higher-demand products.
For video games, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and newer-generation merchandise may generally be eligible for either cash or store credit.
Xbox 360-era and older games are generally purchased for store credit only, although rare and/or particularly desirable items are cashable.
Our staff will explain the available options before completing your trade.
How We Determine Trade Value
We consider several factors when determining an offer, including current market value, condition, completeness, demand, and how much inventory we already have.
For video games, we use sources such as PriceCharting as a market reference along with our own sales history and inventory needs.
We do not use a fixed percentage of retail value for every item. Two products with the same market price can have very different demand and resale characteristics.
Video Games & Systems
We buy games and systems spanning multiple generations from current hardware to retro platforms.
Games must be authentic and in acceptable condition. Systems and accessories are tested before a trade is finalized. Systems and accessories with modifications are not accepted.
A government-issued photo ID is required for most system trades.
Younger customers may trade other merchandise with a parent or guardian present when appropriate.
Trading Card Singles
We buy singles from Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and many other trading card games.
Our online TCG inventory and buylist are available separately through our TCG singles website. Online pricing or buylist information is subject to store review; final acceptance and value are determined after the cards are inspected in person.

Retro & Rare Games
Have something unusual? Bring it in.
We’re particularly interested in desirable retro games, systems, complete-in-box games, uncommon accessories, and harder-to-find gaming merchandise.
Older merchandise may qualify for store credit only, but rare and highly desirable items are evaluated individually.
What We May Not Buy
We may decline items because of condition, low demand, excessive inventory, authenticity concerns, difficulty reselling them or current buying needs.
We sometimes purchase large quantities of low-value bulk trading cards, although Pokémon and Magic collections are currently the only bulk trading cards we accept.
Acceptance decisions are made by our staff after inspecting the merchandise.
